Decatur, IL. May 29, 2019- Decatur’s premier women’s roller derby league, the Prairieland Punishers, is returning to the Decatur Civic Center with two games on June 22. Doors open at 4:00 with the first whistle at 5:00.
The Punishers’ All Stars (4-1) and Backlash (0-2) will both be taking on teams from Rockford Rage Roller Derby for the first time in the league’s history. Coziahr Harley-Davidson will be bringing their demonstration bike for fans to check out. Additionally, Girl Scouts can enjoy free admission with a paid adult.
The family-friendly event is the final home game of this season. Single game tickets are $15 for VIP, $10 for general and $5 for children and available at Giggles, The Bourbon Barrel, and online [CLICK HERE]. Prices increase by $5 at the door. All children 5 years & younger get in free. Volunteers can also enjoy free admission; sign up for a spot here. No experience is necessary, and this is a great way to start learning the game for those interested in joining.
Proceeds from all home games this year benefit Girl Scouts of Central Illinois, as selected by fans in an online poll in March. The Punishers have donated over $30,000 to area charities since their inception in 2011.
Established in 2011, the Prairieland Punishers Roller Derby is dedicated to promoting health, wellness, fitness, training, competition, self-growth, community outreach, and sisterhood. A Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) member since 2016, the Punishers currently rank 237 out of 470 member leagues worldwide.
Fresh Meat Boot Camp for new skaters, including referees, will begin July 30. Anyone interested in getting involved with the league as a skater, volunteer, or sponsor is encouraged to visit punishersderby.com or email email@example.com for more information.
